Senior Researcher: Convergence Survey 4 months Fixed term contract

Remuneration Package: R73, 612.00 per month

The Senior Researcher: Convergence Survey, is responsible for leading and providing oversight over our Convergence Survey Project Team. The survey is a periodic assessment of our age ratings, whether they resonate with public norms and values, and help inform our classification guidelines, which are in turn used in the classification process. This survey will involve collecting 9000 survey questionnaires from across all nine provinces of the Republic of South Africa, reflecting the demographics of the country’s population located in urban, peri-urban and rural areas.  Reporting to the Research, Policy and Advocacy Manager, the Senior Researcher will be required to provide oversight to the fieldworkers collecting data, coordinating the collation, processing and analysis of the data; and finally, for writing and presenting the findings of the survey to a platform chosen by the Film and Publication Board. This is a fixed-term contract attached to a specific project and no renewal should be expected.

Requirements:

  • A Master’s Degree (A PhD is preferable or an added advantage)
  • Extensive experience and expertise in Research
  • Track record of a supervisory role in market research with multiple students/fieldworkers
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Excellent Writing and Reporting Skills
  • Knowledge of different methodologies and data analysis tools
  • Access to a data analytical tool such at ATLASti, SPSS, CAPI etc…

Please note that the successful candidate for this position should have her or his own valid transport and easy access to the FPB Head Office (Centurion, Pretoria).
