18 March 2016, Johannesburg. The Film and Publication Board (FPB) confirms that it has communicated to Netflix their obligation to comply with the Film and Publications Act, regarding both registration and classification requirements and the prescribed licensing fee. 

 

FILM AND PUBLICATION BOARD TO MARK SAFER INTERNET DAY IN EAST LONDON AS PART OF ITS 20 YEAR LEGACY

03 February 2016, Johannesburg. The Film and Publication Board (FPB) will be participating in the global Safer Internet Day (SID) annual campaign on the 9 February 2016, in collaboration with the Eastern Cape Department of Education, and the Steve Biko Centre in East London, Ginsberg. 

South Africa, 01 October 2015: The South African Film and Publications Board (FPB), in collaboration with International Association of Internet Hotlines (INHOPE),will host the first African Media Content Classification and Online Child Protection Conference from 11 – 14 October 2015 at the Misty Hills Country Hotel and Conference Centre. The conference will examine issues surrounding cyber safety, child protection and content classification from an African perspective, and will host delegates from South Africa and other countries in the SADC region and Sub-Saharan Africa.

17 September 2015, Johannesburg. The Film and Publication Board(FPB) today welcomed the announcement of another arrest under Operation Cloud Nine, a joint crackdown by South African and Belgian police, that will see yet  another person face  charges of possession and distribution of child porn.
